You may have heard about the record-breaking sale of a 1970 Plymouth HEMI® ‘Cuda convertible at Mecum Kissimmee for a modest $2.14 million. There was another less costly but just as notable sale at the auction that happened just last month. Mecum Kissimmee auctioned off what became the world’s most expensive Plymouth Duster – a 1971 model that sold for $159,500. This benchmarks the first time a Duster, generally considered and affordable classic, surpassed $100,000 on the auction block. The Curious Yellow Duster stood out because of its flawless restoration, Concours Gold Certificate, and originality with a numbers-matching 340-cubic-inch V8 and four-speed manual gearbox. It was also equipped with rare options, contributing to the final price tag. Your jaw will drop when you see how much was spent on the restoration of this record-breaking 1971 Plymouth Duster 340.
