NHRA Announces Record $25 Million Payout for 2025 Season

The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) has unveiled a historic $25 million prize fund for the 2025 Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, marking the largest payout in the organization’s history. This substantial purse will be distributed across a 20-race national schedule, encompassing event winnings, year-end championship purses, specialty race bonuses, and, for the first time, a regular-season championship payout.

In a groundbreaking move, the NHRA will crown regular-season champions in the Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle categories. The points leader in each category at the conclusion of the regular season will receive a share of nearly $400,000 in additional prize money, intensifying the competition leading up to the Countdown to the Championship playoffs.

NHRA President Glen Cromwell expressed enthusiasm about the increased incentives, stating, “It is always our goal to incentivize our amazing racers at all levels, and we’ve been intently focused on introducing new ways to reward our drivers and race teams. We’re excited to award $25 million to these incredible teams and competitors who race at such a high level and put on a tremendous show for our fans across the country.”

The 2025 NHRA season is set to commence on March 6-9 with the 56th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway. The 14-race regular season will determine the regular-season champions before points are reset for the final six-race Countdown to the Championship playoffs. With the largest payout in NHRA history and the addition of a regular-season title, the 2025 season promises to be one of the most competitive to date.
